About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) VISA 2P26 Photography: Camera and Darkroom Process Fundamentals of 35mm photography: camera, exposure and processing of black and white film and basic darkroom processes. History of photography, critical analysis and photographic theory. Lectures, lab, 4 hour per week. Department: Department of Visual Arts – Studio Art Delivery Method: face-to-face Schedule: Winter term (Duration 3) Section 1: Tuesday 0900 – 1300. Compensation Effective September 1, 2026 - $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally) Effective September 1, 2026 - $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally). Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Requirements

  • MFA is required.
  • Previous university teaching experience with analogue photography in darkroom laboratory of at least two years is required.
  • Extensive experience in analogue darkroom production, lighting, non-digital camera use, equipment maintenance and safe handling procedures
  • Demonstrated knowledge of photography history and contemporary photographic practice.
  • A record of professional activity with concentrated focus on photography (analogue/digital) and exhibitions demonstrative of standing in the art community is required.
  • Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level in the area to be taught (e.g. course evaluations, letters of reference, and/or other components of teaching dossier) is required.

Responsibilities
