About The Position
This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) VISA 2P02 Figure Drawing Two positions: Section 2 and 3. This course focuses on the fundamentals of drawing the figure anatomically and expressively, involving lectures and studio work for 4 hours per week. The Department is the Department of Visual Arts – Studio Art, and the Delivery Method is face-to-face. The schedule is for the Winter Term (Duration 3), with Section 2 on Thursdays from 1800 to 2200 and Section 3 on Thursdays from 1330 to 1730. Compensation is effective September 1, 2026, with a rate of $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally) and $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally). Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture, or equivalent, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.
Requirements
- MFA is required.
- Previous teaching experience of at least two years at the university level is required.
- Knowledgeable with all instructional approaches to drawing from historical to contemporary applications including figurative, gestural and conceptual approaches, experienced instructing from the live model and knowledge of current theoretical trends required.
- Record of professional activity and exhibitions with a focus on drawing, demonstrative of standing in the arts community is required.
- Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level in the area to be taught (e.g. course evaluations, letters of reference, and/or other components of teaching dossier) is required.
- All qualifications must be met.
- All applicable documentation pertaining to any applications must be submitted at the same time with the application.
Responsibilities
- Scheduled contact time with students
- Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty.
