About The Position

Brock University is seeking to fill an existing vacancy for an Instructor for the course HIST 2P02 Canada After 1885. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group. The compensation for the role is effective September 1, 2026, with a rate of $7,887.59 per half course (nominally 195 hours) or $15,775.20 per full course (nominally 390 hours). Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture, or equivalent, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course. Duties and responsibilities align with Article 22.01 of the Collective Agreement, including scheduled student contact time and non-classroom time such as lecture preparation, student consultation, marking, grading, course administration, grade appeals, and handling cases of academic dishonesty. Requirements

Ph.D. in Canadian History (or senior doctoral candidates if no qualified applicants)
Demonstrated knowledge of and expertise in post-1885 Canadian History
Demonstrated scholarly engagement with the historical profession
Experience in teaching undergraduate university History courses
Evidence of teaching excellence in History at the undergraduate university level (e.g., letters of reference, course/performance evaluations, and/or other components of a teaching dossier)
