About The Position
This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group. The position is for RECL 3Q92 – Therapeutic Recreation and Behavioural Health, with a synchronous lecture scheduled for Wednesday from 1900-2200. The compensation is effective September 1, 2026, with a rate of $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally) or $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally). Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture, or equivalent, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree or PhD in Recreation and Leisure Studies with an emphasis in therapeutic recreation.
- At least two years of work experience delivering therapeutic recreation services to clients with a focus on mental health, addiction recovery and/or other behavioural health issues.
- Demonstrated therapeutic recreation program development and management experience.
- Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the university level.
Nice To Haves
- Current certification as a CTRS through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification is considered an asset.
Responsibilities
- Scheduled contact time with students
- Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration
- Handling grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty
