About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) THE HEALTH OF CANADIAN SOCIETY. The compensation for this position is effective September 1, 2026, with a rate of $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally) and $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally). Instructors employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course. Duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22.01 of the Collective Agreement and include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty.

Requirements

PhD in Health Sciences, Sociology, Psychology, or related field
Sound knowledge of the Canadian Health Care system
Robust understanding of the social and structural determinants of health
Ability to lead the Indigenous health issues component of the course in culturally sensitive and respectful ways
Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience with large class size at the undergraduate university level

Nice To Haves

ABD or Master's degree combined with relevant experience (considered if no qualified PhD applications are received)
Experience with online delivery tools (MS Teams, Brightspace, Lifesize, etc.)

Responsibilities

Course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty
Lead the component of the course involving Indigenous health issues in culturally sensitive and respectful ways
Partner with Indigenous Elders or Knowledge Keepers for Indigenous health issues content (if not self-identifying as Indigenous)
