About The Position

Brock University is seeking to fill an existing vacancy for an Instructor in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) PROCESSES OF HEALTH & WELLNESS. This position is effective September 1, 2026. The compensation is $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally) and $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally). Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture, or equivalent, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course. Requirements

  • A PhD in a related field with a specialization in community engagement or health professionalization.
  • Experience with the principles of Asset-Based Community Development.
  • Ability to teach basic epistemology as it applies to health and the history of science.
  • Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience with large class size at the undergraduate university level.
  • Applicants must not exceed the maximum number of regular hours allowable in a work week under the Employment Standards Act, as amended from time to time, when combined with all other appointments at the University. Applicants in excess of workload limits will not have their applications considered unless they have received prior written approval from the appropriate Dean and the Human Resources Department.

Nice To Haves

  • After the deadline, if no qualified PhD applications have been received, those at ABD or those with a master’s degree combined with relevant experience will be considered.
  • Experience with online delivery tools (MS Teams, Brightspace, Lifesize, etc.) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty.
