About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the HLSC 3P92 course during the Fall D2-3 term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 employee group. Teaching Assistants are paid according to their qualifications, with rates effective September 1, 2026. Undergraduate rate is $23.30 per hour for those without a 4-year honours or 3-year pass degree. Graduate rate is $36.67 per hour for those with a 4-year honours or 3-year pass degree. Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement, and include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.

Requirements

Undergraduate degree in Health Sciences or related discipline
Completed this course within the last three years
Effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students and provide constructive feedback
Punctual in attending classes
Able to meet appropriate deadlines
Experience or training with synchronous and asynchronous course support
Proficiency with online delivery tools (e.g., Lifesize, Microsoft Teams, Brightspace), computer spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), and electronic audience response systems
Available to provide feedback in person and, when required, online

Nice To Haves

Fourth year (honours) standing students in Health Sciences or related discipline will be considered if vacancies remain
Experience leading seminars is an asset
