Teaching Assistant HLSC 3P80 Fall D2
About The Position
Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the HLSC 3P80 course for the Fall D2 term. This is a 30-hour position within the CUPE4207-1 employee group. The compensation rate depends on the applicant's qualifications, with an undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour and a graduate rate of $36.67 per hour, effective September 1, 2026. Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparing seminar material, student consultation, marking, grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as required, in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement.
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree in Health Sciences or related discipline.
- Completed this course within the last three years.
- Effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students and provide constructive feedback.
- Punctual in attending classes.
- Able to meet appropriate deadlines.
- Experience or training with synchronous and asynchronous course support.
- Proficiency with online delivery tools (e.g., Lifesize, Microsoft Teams, Brightspace), computer spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), and electronic audience response systems.
- Available to provide feedback in person and, when required, online.
Nice To Haves
- Fourth year (honours) standing students in Health Sciences or related discipline will be considered if vacancies remain.
- Experience leading seminars is an asset.
