About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the HLSC 2P02 Fall D2 course. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) and involves supporting the Infection Control & Safety course. Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications the employee holds, with rates effective September 1, 2026. Employees without a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour. Employees with a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate of $36.67 per hour. Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement, and include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in Health Sciences or related discipline.
  • Applicants must have completed this course within the last three years.
  • Effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students and provide constructive feedback.
  • Punctual in attending classes.
  • Able to meet appropriate deadlines.
  • Experience or training with synchronous and asynchronous course support.
  • Proficiency with online delivery tools (e.g., Lifesize, Microsoft Teams, Brightspace), computer spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), and electronic audience response systems.
  • Available to provide feedback in person and, when required, online.

Nice To Haves

  • If vacancies remain, fourth year (honours) standing students in Health Sciences or related discipline will be considered.
  • Experience leading seminars is an asset.
