About The Position
Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the HLSC 3P37 course during the Fall D2-3 term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) and involves scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom duties such as preparing seminar material, student consultation, marking, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration. Compensation is based on qualifications, with an undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour and a graduate rate of $36.67 per hour (effective September 1, 2026). Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree in Health Sciences or related discipline.
- Applicants must have completed this course within the last three years.
- Effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students and provide constructive feedback.
- Punctual in attending classes.
- Able to meet appropriate deadlines.
- Experience or training with synchronous and asynchronous course support.
- Proficiency with online delivery tools (e.g., Lifesize, Microsoft Teams, Brightspace), computer spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), and electronic audience response systems.
- Available to provide feedback in person and, when required, online.
Nice To Haves
- If vacancies remain, fourth year (honours) standing students in Health Sciences or related discipline will be considered.
- Experience leading seminars is an asset.
