About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Instructor for CANA 2P91 Diversity in Action: Canada’s Cultural Communities for the Fall D2 term. This position is to fill an existing vacancy within the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group. The compensation for the role is effective September 1, 2026, with a rate of $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally) or $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally). Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture, or equivalent, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course. Requirements

PhD or ABD status in a Doctoral program in Canadian Studies, History (with a specialty in Canadian History), or Literature (with a specialty in Canadian Literature)
Successful academic teaching experience and teaching competence
Knowledge of Canadian Studies relevant to the applicable course
Demonstrated experience with online instruction and seminar leading
In the absence of applicants who meet the qualifications above, candidates with a Master's degree with evidence of strong background in Canadian Studies, may also be deemed suitable.

Responsibilities

Scheduled contact time with students
Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration
Handling grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty
