About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Instructor for a half course in LING 4P80/4P81/5P80/5P81 for the Fall/Winter 2026-27 academic term. This is a conjunction course primarily with undergraduate students and may include graduate students. The class will be held face-to-face at the Brock University main campus in St. Catharines. The compensation for a half course effective September 1, 2026, is $7,887.59 for approximately 195 hours. Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture equivalent are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course. Requirements

  • A relevant doctorate (PhD)
  • In the absence of a PhD, a master’s degree with evidence of sufficient academic background (e.g., course work or thesis focus) in relevant areas may be considered.
  • Evidence of educational background must be provided.
  • Previous successful academic teaching experience (as instructor responsible for all aspects of the course)
  • Teaching competence (e.g., course evaluations, letters of reference and/or other components of a teaching dossier).

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures
  • Student consultation
  • Marking and grading
  • Course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty
  • Responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course if employed in a 2-hour/week lecture or equivalent.
