About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) for the course LING 1P00 FALL 2026 AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE I. The compensation for a half course is $7,887.59 and for a full course is $15,775.20, effective September 1, 2026. Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture or equivalent are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course. The class will be held face-to-face at the Brock University main campus in St. Catharines.

Requirements

  • A relevant doctorate.
  • In the absence of a PhD qualification, a master’s degree with evidence of sufficient background (e.g. course work or thesis focus) in relevant areas may be considered.
  • Evidence of educational background must be provided.
  • Practical experience with American Sign Language as a first or subsequent language.
  • Previous successful academic teaching experience (as instructor responsible for all aspects of the course).
  • Teaching competence (e.g. course evaluations, letters of reference and/or other components of a teaching dossier).

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty.
