About The Position

Brock University is seeking to fill an existing vacancy for an Instructor for LING 3Q93 FALL 2026, Introduction to Neurolinguistics. This is a half course position with a nominal duration of 195 hours. The instructor will be responsible for scheduled contact time with students, preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration. The class will be held face-to-face at the Brock University main campus in St. Catharines.

Requirements

  • A relevant doctorate.
  • In the absence of a PhD qualification, a master’s degree with evidence of sufficient academic background (e.g. course work or thesis focus) in relevant areas may be considered.
  • Evidence of educational background must be provided.
  • Previous successful academic teaching experience (as instructor responsible for all aspects of the course).
  • Teaching competence (e.g. course evaluations, letters of reference and/or other components of a teaching dossier).

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Preparation of lectures
  • Student consultation
  • Marking and grading
  • Course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty
  • Responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course if employed in a 2-hour/week lecture or equivalent.

  • Compensation effective September 1, 2026 - $7,887.59 per half course
