About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Instructor for a half course in LING 2P01, American Sign Language III, for the Fall 2026 term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group. The course will be held face-to-face on the Brock University main campus in St. Catharines. The nominal hours for a half course are 195 hours. Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture, or equivalent, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course. Requirements

  • A relevant doctorate is required.
  • In the absence of a PhD qualification, a master’s degree with evidence of sufficient background (e.g. course work or thesis focus) in relevant areas may be considered.
  • Evidence of educational background must be provided.
  • Applicants must have practical experience with American Sign Language as a first or subsequent language.
  • Previous successful academic teaching experience (as instructor responsible for all aspects of the course).
  • Teaching competence (e.g. course evaluations, letters of reference and/or other components of a teaching dossier).

Responsibilities

  • Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement.
  • Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.
