About The Position
This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Half Course Instructor for LING 2P99 (Literacy in Childhood & Youth) for the Winter 2027 term. The compensation for a half course is $7,887.59, based on approximately 195 hours. Instructors responsible for a 2-hour/week lecture are also responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course. The class will be held face-to-face at the Brock University main campus in St. Catharines.
Requirements
- A relevant doctorate (PhD)
- In the absence of a PhD, a master’s degree with evidence of sufficient academic background (e.g., course work or thesis focus) in relevant areas may be considered
- Evidence of educational background must be provided
- Previous successful academic teaching experience (as instructor responsible for all aspects of the course)
- Teaching competence (e.g., course evaluations, letters of reference and/or other components of a teaching dossier)
Responsibilities
- Scheduled contact time with students
- Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration
- Handling grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty
