About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Instructor for the course Data Visualization and Intelligence (DASA 3P31 / ITIS 3P31) for the Winter D3 term, effective September 1, 2026. This position involves scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time, including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration. The compensation for this role is $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally) or $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally). Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course. Requirements

  • A Master’s degree (or higher) in Data Science, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a closely related discipline
  • Demonstrated expertise in business intelligence tools, including Excel (with a strong command of pivot tables, data shaping, and advanced charting)
  • Demonstrated expertise in Power BI or Tableau (including dashboard and story point design)
  • Proficiency in data storytelling and visualization principles, with the ability to teach effective visual communication using data

Nice To Haves

  • Prior university-level teaching experience in data visualization, analytics, or business intelligence
  • Experience in designing and delivering instruction (in-person or online), particularly in applied analytics or data visualization contexts
  • Familiarity with spatial data visualization techniques, including map-based tools
  • Ability to design and evaluate interactive dashboards for business or organizational decision-making
  • Experience working with real-world datasets in a business, academic, or public sector setting
