About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) for a Lab Demonstrator position for CHEM 3P31 in the Winter D3-1 term. Compensation for Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator, and Lab Demonstrator positions is based on the employee's qualifications. Employees without a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate of $22.07 per hour (effective September 1, 2024). Employees with a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate of $34.73 per hour (effective September 1, 2024). Additional duties required as part of a Teaching Assistant's role will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The nominal workload for this position is 10 hours per week, consisting of 6 hours of demonstrating and 4 hours of marking and lab preparation. Duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement. The incumbent, under the direction of the Senior Lab Instructor, is responsible for understanding laboratory procedures, introducing the lab, demonstrating techniques, assisting students during the lab, ensuring safe lab conditions, preparing and cleaning up the lab, marking lab reports, and attending necessary meetings.

Requirements

  • MSc or currently enrolled in a graduate program in Chemistry
  • Completed CHEM 3P31 or an equivalent course
  • Submit seniority date with application (applicants without one will be assumed not to have one)

Responsibilities
