About The Position

Brock University is seeking to fill an existing vacancy for an Instructor for the course CLAS 3P16 - The World of Imperial Epic for the Winter D3 term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group. The compensation for the role is effective September 1, 2026, with a rate of $7,887.59 per half course (nominally 195 hours) and $15,775.20 per full course (nominally 390 hours). Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture, or equivalent, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course. Duties and responsibilities align with Article 22.01 of the Collective Agreement, including scheduled contact time, lecture preparation, student consultation, marking, grading, course administration, grade appeals, and handling cases of academic dishonesty.

Requirements

  • PhD in Classics or closely related field, in hand or near completion.
  • Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level (letters of reference and course/performance evaluations).
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills.
  • Prior teaching and/or research experience in the study of Classics.
