About The Position

The Installation Technician services multiple locations across central North Carolina, including Fayetteville, Sanford, Pinehurst, and surrounding communities. The role installs and repairs equipment to provide voice, data, and video services, working independently inside or outside customers’ premises. Technicians educate customers about service features and functionality, verify that services work, demonstrate and sell video services, and provide customer service as representatives of DIRECTV. The position may involve work at heights, in confined or uncomfortable spaces, outdoors in varied weather, and travel for out-of-area assignments.

Requirements

• Hold a valid state driver’s license, commercial license, or chauffeur’s license, as applicable to the vehicle and relevant state and federal licensing requirements.
• Complete a satisfactory driving record check.
• Be willing to work day, evening, or night tours; overtime; emergency call-outs; weekends; and holidays as required.
• Be willing to travel for out-of-area work, which may include overnight travel.
• Meet satisfactory results on the Premise Technician Assessment Technical.
• Complete a satisfactory Physical Abilities Evaluation (PAE).
• Be able to lift up to 80 pounds.
• For assignments involving ladder climbing, meet the manufacturer’s safety requirement that body weight not exceed 275 pounds.
• Be able to stand for long periods and perform work involving kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, or other uncomfortable positions.
• Meet drug-testing requirements when mandated by state or federal requirements.
• Meet security-check requirements when required.
• Be able to drive a vehicle with a manual gear shift when required.
• Be able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather and in environments that may not be heated or air conditioned.

Responsibilities

• Install and service customer satellite equipment while working on ladders and raised surfaces.
• Educate customers on the features and functionality of services.
• Verify that services are working and demonstrate, sell, and bill video service while engaging with customers.
• Work in buildings, attics, basements, and crawl spaces, including performing tasks while bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, or crawling.
• Use a company PC to retrieve and complete orders.
• Work outdoors in all types of weather while using appropriate safety equipment and following established safety practices and procedures.
• Drive a company vehicle and/or report directly to the work location.
• Promote DIRECTV and provide customer service during installations.
