About The Position

Maine Oxy is hiring an Inside Sales team member for its South Portland, Maine store. The role supports customers with specialty gases and related products, provides technical assistance, and contributes to daily store operations. It combines customer service, product knowledge, sales support, equipment assembly, and hands-on store work. The position is full-time, year-round, and scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with no seasonal layoffs. Maine Oxy is a 300-person company that supplies and transports specialty gases for medical and veterinary offices, breweries, welders and metal fabricators, and other customers. The company emphasizes collaboration, integrity, attention to detail, and safety.

Requirements

Retail or inside sales experience.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the day.
Frequent use of hands and arms; occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching.
Ability to lift 25–75 pounds occasionally.
Strong visual awareness, including close and distance vision and depth perception.

Nice To Haves

Experience in welding, industrial gases, or related applications.
Familiarity with industry products.
Comfort using handheld systems such as Zebra or similar.

Responsibilities

Put safety first.
Deliver exceptional customer service and apply strong product knowledge.
Troubleshoot technical questions from customers and team members.
Support all aspects of store operations.
Complete paperwork accurately and efficiently.
Lead the store when the Store Manager is absent.
Build relationships as the primary in-store contact for key customers.
Assist with pricing, quotes, and occasional negotiations.
Support inside and outside sales teams.
Assemble equipment, stock shelves, and create displays.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional store environment.
Provide help where needed across varied daily tasks.

Hourly pay of $26.00–$30.00.
