Infrastructure Engineering Manager

Redwood Trust•Englewood, CO

About The Position

The Infrastructure Engineering Manager leads technology design, selection, and maintenance in alignment with business initiatives. The role oversees Redwood’s cloud and on-premises infrastructure, endpoint fleet, and network, while serving as an escalation point for day-to-day operations. It delivers fault-tolerant, cost-effective, and scalable solutions across development, test, and production environments and owns disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities. Redwood is consolidating on Azure, moving from manually built infrastructure toward code and pipelines, standardizing its endpoint fleet, and shifting routine operational work to automation and managed services. The manager leads a team of internal engineers, contractors, and vendor resources, deciding what to build, buy, or hand off. The role works closely with security engineering, application development, and data teams, participates in technology planning, and owns the working relationship with the Azure managed services partner.

  • Ten or more years leading design and support of enterprise-level infrastructure, including at least two years leading a team or acting as a technical lead with delivery accountability.
  • Strong Azure experience across networking, identity, compute, and governance; ideally includes a migration or consolidation effort.
  • Expertise in operational stability and uptime, disaster recovery and business continuity, capacity and performance management, and data center migrations.
  • Depth in Windows Server, Active Directory and Entra ID, virtualization, storage, and enterprise networking.

  • Endpoint management experience with Intune across both Windows and Mac.
  • Experience managing vendors and managed service providers, including holding them to service levels.
  • Familiarity with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks, and experience managing a project or serving as a project team lead.

  • Experience managing offshore or nearshore engineering teams.
  • Azure certifications such as Solutions Architect Expert or Administrator Associate.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the infrastructure engineering team, including internal staff and contract or nearshore engineers, and set standards for documentation and handoff.
  • Provide design and configuration management leadership across infrastructure domains, delivering fault-tolerant, cost-effective, and scalable solutions.
  • Own the Azure environment, including landing zones, subscription and tenant governance, networking, identity integration, compute, storage, and cost management.
  • Drive infrastructure-as-code and pipeline-based delivery using Terraform or Bicep with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Operate the remaining on-premises and hybrid footprint, including Windows Server, virtualization, storage, and network, and lead decisions about what migrates or is retired.
  • Own backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity, including regular restore testing and documented recovery objectives agreed with the business.
  • Manage the Windows and macOS endpoint program through Intune, covering imaging, patching, configuration baselines, and hardware standardization.
  • Oversee monitoring, alerting, capacity, and performance planning, and reduce recurring manual work through automation.
  • Partner with security engineering to implement infrastructure-layer controls, support SOX IT general controls and audit evidence requests, and meet vulnerability and patching commitments.
  • Manage vendor relationships, licensing, renewals, and part of the infrastructure budget, explaining cost and risk tradeoffs behind renewal decisions.
