About The Position

The Inbound/Outbound Manager oversees receiving or shipping functions and helps build a strong work team while resolving employee relations issues. The role monitors operational performance, identifies gaps, develops improvement plans, sets goals, manages staffing and budget activities, and communicates with the company carrier about store loads and backhauls. The manager works with the distribution center management team and Operations Manager, and coordinates staffing reviews with Human Resources. The position requires moving throughout the distribution center to monitor merchandise flow.

Requirements

Strong analytical and math skills, with strong attention to detail.
Good or strong oral and written communication skills.
Understanding of human resource practices and OSHA and FDA regulations.
Proficiency in Excel and Word and experience with general software applications.
Familiarity with Warehouse Management System functionality.
Planning and forecasting skills.
Team problem-solving skills.
At least five years of experience in distribution, logistics, and management.
A college degree in business.

Nice To Haves

Experience with warehouse management systems and RTS applications.
Experience in an automated retail distribution center.

Responsibilities

Review current or future trends that may indicate gaps in inbound or outbound functions and recommend actions based on findings.
Participate with the distribution center management team and develop action plans for internal analyses and gap identification.
Conduct daily status meetings with the management team to review prior-day performance and develop an action plan for the current day.
Lead the development and communication of Productivity Improvement Plans for performance indicators or areas identified for improvement.
Conduct observations and analyses to identify areas for change and develop action plans addressing operational and employee gaps.
Lead the inbound or outbound team in developing and implementing goals and measurements.
Review strategic goals for the inbound or outbound area and set performance goals.
Monitor the department budget monthly and assist in developing budgets for inbound or outbound functions.
Conduct weekly staffing reviews with the Operations Manager and Human Resources to determine appropriate staffing levels.
Communicate with the company carrier regarding store loads and backhauls.
