About The Position

HeyTutor is hiring tutors to support TK–5th grade students in a Petaluma school district during after-school hours. Tutors will supervise students and help address learning gaps from the past school year. The role involves leading groups without support from a teacher or school site staff, using program-provided curriculum and materials, and creating an engaging, welcoming environment that encourages positive behavior and student participation. The position offers 16 hours per week, with weekday availability from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Pay is $22–$28 per hour, determined at interview based on education and experience. Candidates must be comfortable completing an in-person background check.

Requirements

• Completed an associate degree or higher, or currently enrolled in college or university.
• Tutoring experience and ability to work well with children.
• Comfortable working in a classroom setting.
• Clear FBI-DOJ background check, provided through HeyTutor.
• Clear TB test.

Responsibilities

• Work with groups of students without support from a teacher or school site staff.
• Prepare the area for tutoring sessions.
• When applicable, pick up and drop off students at designated areas on the school site.
• Take attendance and run lessons through the HeyTutor Dashboard, if applicable.
• Document student progress using the HeyTutor Dashboard.
• When requested by a manager, facilitate students taking and completing baseline and summative assessments.
• Lead tutoring groups using the curriculum and materials provided by the program.
• Create an engaging environment where students feel a sense of belonging.
• Support students in making positive behavior choices.
• Engage and interact with students during tutoring lessons.
• Clock in and out daily for shifts using Deputy.
• Perform other duties required by the company, manager, or school site.
