About The Position

HeyTutor is hiring an in-person Math Tutor to support students in grades 6–8 at a partner school site in Brooklyn, New York. The role is suited to college students, aspiring educators, and education professionals seeking consistent weekday hours and the opportunity to support students in their community. Applicants must have completed an Associate’s degree or higher and pass an in-person FBI-DOJ background check.

Tutors work with groups of students using provided curriculum and materials, without direct teacher supervision. The role includes creating an engaging learning environment, supporting student behavior and participation, tracking attendance and progress, assisting with assessments when requested, and escorting students to designated campus areas. Paid training, ongoing support, and a structured curriculum are provided.

Pay is $32–$38 per hour, based on education and experience. Attendance-based pay incentives and voluntary health benefits are also available.

Requirements

• Completed Associate’s degree or higher.
• Comfortable tutoring middle school math.
• Ability to manage large groups of students independently.
• Comfortable working in a classroom setting.
• Ability to pass an FBI-DOJ in-person background check.
• Monday–Friday availability; must be available from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Tutor groups of students without direct teacher supervision.

• Assist with student assessments when requested.
• Escort students to and from designated areas on campus.
• Clock in and out daily using Deputy.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.
