About The Position

HeyTutor is hiring in-person ELA tutors to support students in kindergarten through second grade at a school site in Brooklyn, New York. Tutors work with groups of students using a provided curriculum and materials, without direct teacher supervision. The role is suited to college students, aspiring educators, and education professionals seeking consistent weekday hours and meaningful work in their community. An in-person background check is required. The position requires Monday–Friday availability from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. HeyTutor provides a structured curriculum, paid training, and ongoing support. Compensation is $32–$38 per hour, based on education and experience, with attendance-based pay incentives.

Requirements

Completed Associate’s degree or higher.
Comfortable tutoring elementary school ELA.
Ability to manage large groups of students independently.
Comfortable working in a classroom setting.
Ability to pass an FBI-DOJ in-person background check.
Availability Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Experience working with children or tutoring is preferred.

Responsibilities

Tutor groups of students without direct teacher supervision.
Deliver lessons using provided curriculum and materials.
Create an engaging, welcoming learning environment.
Support positive student behavior and participation.
Track attendance and student progress using the HeyTutor Dashboard.
Assist with student assessments when requested.
Escort students to and from designated areas on campus.
Clock in and out daily using Deputy.
Complete additional duties as assigned.
