About The Position

HeyTutor has partnered with a school district in Chula Vista and is hiring tutors to work with middle and high school students in grades 6–12 during and after regular school hours. Tutors supervise students while helping them address learning gaps from the past school year. The role involves working with student groups without the support of a teacher or school-site staff and creating an engaging, welcoming environment that supports students’ learning and positive behavior.

The position is scheduled for 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with availability from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pay is $25–$28 per hour, depending on education and experience, as determined at the interview. Applicants must be comfortable with an in-person background check and classroom work. HeyTutor provides curriculum and materials for tutoring sessions.

Requirements

• Completed an associate degree or higher, or currently enrolled in college or university.
• Tutoring experience and the ability to work well with children.
• Comfort working in a classroom setting.
• Clear FBI-DOJ background check, provided through HeyTutor.
• COVID-19 vaccination.
• Comfort with middle school math, including Algebra, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus.
• Comfortable passing an in-person background check.

Responsibilities

• Work with groups of students without support from a teacher or school-site staff.
• Prepare the area before tutoring sessions.
• When needed, pick up and drop off students at designated areas on the school site.
• Take attendance and run lessons through the HeyTutor Dashboard, if applicable.
• Document student progress using the HeyTutor Dashboard.
• When requested by a manager, facilitate students taking and completing baseline and summative assessments.
• Lead group tutoring sessions using the curriculum and materials provided by the program.
• Create an engaging environment that fosters belonging and that students want to be in.
• Support students in making positive behavior choices.
• Engage and interact with students during tutoring lessons.
• Clock in and out daily for shifts using Deputy.
• Perform other duties required by the Company, manager, and/or school site.
