About The Position

HeyTutor is hiring tutors to support TK–5th grade students in a Petaluma school district during after-school hours. Tutors work with students to address learning gaps, lead tutoring sessions using program-provided curriculum and materials, and actively supervise students. The role is suited to candidates interested in education, consistent tutoring hours, or supporting students in their community. The position requires an in-person background check, a clear TB test, and bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish. Pay is $24–$28 per hour, with the rate determined at interview based on education and experience. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with availability from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 16 hours per week.

Requirements

• Tutoring experience and ability to work well with children.
• Comfort working in a classroom setting.
• Clear FBI-DOJ background check, provided through HeyTutor.
• Clear TB test.
• Obtain 48 college units, or have a high school diploma and pass a district assessment.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Work with groups of students without support from a teacher or school-site staff.
• Prepare the area for tutoring sessions.
• When needed, pick up and drop off students from designated areas at the school site.
• Take attendance and run lessons through the HeyTutor Dashboard, if applicable.
• Document student progress using the HeyTutor Dashboard.
• When requested by a manager, facilitate students taking and completing baseline and summative assessments.
• Lead tutoring groups using the curriculum and materials provided by the program.
• Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging for students.
• Support students in making positive behavior choices.
• Engage with students and participate alongside them in tutoring lessons.
• Clock in and out daily for shifts using Deputy.
• Perform other duties required by the company, manager, or school site.
