The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) is seeking an Identity and Driver Credential Specialist 1 for a Major Service Area (MSA) customer service center in Warner Robins. The role provides customer service while issuing secure driver and identity credentials in accordance with state laws and regulations. Specialists help customers with learner’s permits, out-of-state license conversions, first-time driver licenses and identity cards, and may administer driving examinations. The position involves working with and through others within established guidelines and serving a diverse population. Patience, attention to detail, accuracy, and efficient handling of customer matters are important. High-volume centers may encounter incidents such as irate customers, slips and falls, road-test crashes, or sick customers. The specialist may serve as a team lead to lower-level staff. MSA-assigned team members receive a $3,500 supplement. For employees hired after July 1, 2026, the supplement may be lost if they transfer from an MSA center to a non-MSA center, transfer to Headquarters, or if their customer service center is removed from the MSA category. DDS describes career mobility from Specialist 1 to Specialist 2 for employees with satisfactory performance, with a stated 10% increase. The posting also lists $1,600 payments after 12 months and after 18 months, the latter associated with promotion to Specialist 2. Road skills tests take place throughout the year in varied weather, from early morning into early evening, and each test lasts approximately 30 minutes. The position requires flexible work availability because customer service centers have varied operating hours. Employees may be asked to assist other centers or perform responsibilities not regularly assigned to them to support agency operations; management will work with employees regarding locations and transportation.
