About The Position

The Ice Rink Referee works at the outdoor real-ice rink for Christmas at the Princess at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. This seasonal role runs from November 2 through January 10 and involves helping provide a safe, enjoyable skating experience and creating festive holiday memories for guests. The position requires availability for shifts beginning at 4 p.m., at least three days per week, and evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The role reports to the Director of Christmas at the Princess Operations. The referee maintains safe rink operations, communicates rules and infractions, tracks session times, coordinates with facility managers, and provides professional, friendly service in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Hockey or figure skating experience.
• Availability for the seasonal period from November 2 through January 10.
• Must be available for shifts beginning at 4 p.m. and work at least three days per week.
• Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
• Highly responsible and reliable.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team.
• Ability to focus on guest needs while remaining calm and courteous.

Nice To Haves

• Previous point-of-sale system experience.

Responsibilities

• Display precise knowledge of event activities and experience inclusions.
• Confer with facility managers to share information, coordinate activities, and discuss opportunities.
• Inspect sporting equipment and/or examine participants to ensure compliance with event and safety regulations.
• Maintain standards of play and ensure safety rules are observed.
• Signal participants or other officials about infractions or to regulate the skating experience.
• Teach and explain the rules and regulations governing the ice rink.
• Track event times, including rink times, and start or stop sessions when necessary.
• Consistently provide professional, friendly, and engaging service.
