About The Position

The Ice Operations Supervisor oversees the daily operation of the McCormick Tribune Ice Rink in Millennium Park, ensuring the facility runs smoothly and provides patrons with a safe and enjoyable environment. The role maintains safe, high-quality ice for events and activities; supervises staff and operations; coordinates events; maintains equipment; and addresses operational issues. The position also assists with seasonal facility changeovers, supports guest service, and may serve as manager on duty for scheduled openings or closings.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of ice maintenance and rink operations is highly desirable.
Experience in facility management, preferably in an ice arena or similar environment.
Certified Ice Technician (CIT) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with setup and teardown of the ice rink during seasonal facility changeovers.
Supervise and coordinate daily ice arena operations, including ice maintenance, scheduling, and facility management.
Maintain the ice surface, including resurfacing, checking quality, and promptly addressing issues.
Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance of the ice resurfacer and edger.
Provide respectful and friendly guest service to athletes, guests, visitors, spectators, leaders, and team members.
Follow safety standards when operating machinery and working near athletes and spectators.
Set up, tear down, and monitor the venue for community skate sessions, practices, games, and private rentals.
Inspect and manage inventory of ice arena supplies, ice maintenance materials, machinery, and rental equipment.
Perform assigned general rink maintenance, including sweeping and cleaning.
Use safe operating techniques specified by STAR for blade changes, driving, resurfacing, handling, and machine inspection.
Respond to guest concerns and refer them to the appropriate manager for resolution when needed.
Enforce facility policies and procedures.
Maintain general knowledge of program options and facility events.
Assist other operational areas as necessary.
Accurately record ice and equipment maintenance logs and daily readings.
Respond to incidents, accidents, injuries, and altercations, and complete and file related paperwork as necessary.
Ensure health and safety standards are followed.
Serve as manager on duty for scheduled facility openings and/or closings.
Complete special projects, daily assignments, and other duties as directed by management.
