HVAC Install Apprentice
About The Position
Grapids Home Services is a residential service company specializing in plumbing, heating, and air conditioning, with more than 25 years in business. As an HVAC Install Apprentice, you will support licensed technicians and installers as they set up, install, and replace heating and air conditioning systems in homes and businesses. You will learn hands-on while assisting with tasks such as ductwork and wiring, preparing tools and work areas, and carrying out basic installation work under supervision. This field-based role includes daily travel to residential and commercial job sites in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area, with travel of up to 25%. Evening, weekend, or overtime work may be required depending on project schedules.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Willingness to learn HVAC installation practices and safety protocols.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under supervision.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

- Enrollment in or interest in an HVAC apprenticeship or trade school program.
Responsibilities
- Assist HVAC installers with the setup, installation, and replacement of HVAC systems, including ductwork and wiring.
- Prepare tools, materials, and work areas, and perform basic tasks such as measuring, cutting, drilling, and assembling under supervision.
- Follow blueprints, schematics, and project instructions from senior technicians, ensuring work meets building codes and safety regulations.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites.
- Document work performed and time logs as required.
- Communicate professionally with customers and coworkers.
- Participate in training and safety meetings to build HVAC trade knowledge.
