About The Position

This role supports the Human Resources Department in various functions including employee relations, onboarding/offboarding, benefits administration, leave management, HRIS/payroll data management, and recordkeeping. The position aims to ensure fair guidance in employee relations, manage employee transitions, administer benefits accurately, and maintain compliant records. The Human Resources Generalist will serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries and collaborate with leaders to support district HR functions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Proficiency with HRIS or benefits management systems.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all HR and benefits matters.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Acts 34, 114, and 151 as required by Pennsylvania school employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college, preferred.
  • Experience in working in public sector human resources preferred.
  • Familiarity with insurance benefits, leave policies, and HR procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in conflict resolution and mediation disputes, providing recommendations for fair solutions.
  • Conduct internal reviews of employee relations concerns, policy violations, and unsafe workplace behaviors.
  • Provide recommendations to leaders on disciplinary actions in alignment with regulations and policies.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze employee engagement survey results to recommend improvements.
  • Aid in the development of performance improvement plans and corrective action notices.
  • Facilitate new hire orientation and manage benefit-related components of onboarding and offboarding.
  • Assist employees with benefit questions, employment verifications, and attendance/leave inquiries.
  • Assist with ID badge creation and support HR with job fairs and recruitment events.
  • Process tuition assistance requests and coordinate reimbursements.
  • Support HR compliance by managing documentation, personnel actions, and attendance tracking.
  • Coordinate all aspects of employee benefits, including open enrollment, eligibility updates, COBRA, retiree benefits, workers compensation, and unemployment.
  • Manage employee benefit enrollment and changes within HR information systems.
  • Process benefit-related payments and documentation.
  • Oversee benefit compliance activities, including annual ACA reporting.
  • Maintain district benefit software and generate reports.
  • Process and administer all leave of absence requests and disability paperwork.
  • Collaborate with employees and leaders regarding leave of absences and return-to-work processes.
  • Review and analyze HRIS processes and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Prepare and process personnel action forms, Board report updates, and payroll deduction changes.
  • Maintain accurate HR data in district HRIS systems.
  • Coordinate PSERS demographic updates and retirement contact documentation.
  • Support HR and Business Office leadership with benefits-related data for negotiations and audits.
  • Maintain organized and confidential benefit files, records, and billing documentation.
  • Generate and submit reports to leadership, vendors, and auditors.
  • Serve as district liaison with insurance carriers, brokers, and vendors.
  • Complete fiscal year rollover processes, requisitions, purchase orders, and administrative documentation.
  • Assist in the resolution of employee relations issues by providing informed, fair guidance.
  • Support the district with disciplinary matters, disputes, investigations, and performance management.
  • Manage full-cycle transitions for district employees, from new hire orientation to exit interviews.
  • Assist in the training of staff to support employee retention.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and confidential administration of employee benefits.
  • Provide high-quality support to employees, supervisors, and HR leadership for benefit inquiries.
  • Maintain compliant records, assist with onboarding, administer retiree benefits, and complete benefit-related reporting.
