About The Position

The Human Resource Director oversees human resources for a 24/7 food service and manufacturing operation with more than 200 employees across three shifts. This hands-on role leads employee relations, payroll compliance, workers’ compensation, workplace safety, and performance management. The Director partners with plant leadership, the CFO, and external HR leadership, and manages HR records and reporting through ADP Workforce Now. The position is based in West Sacramento, California, and is in person, Monday through Friday, with occasional alternate hours or weekends to support the workforce.

Requirements

At least 7 years of progressive HR experience.
Strong knowledge of California employment law and payroll compliance.
Experience in employee relations, investigations, workers’ compensation, and workplace safety.
Proven ability to coach managers and handle sensitive employee matters.
Experience with ADP Workforce Now or a similar HRIS.
Fluency in English and Spanish.
Flexibility to occasionally work alternate hours or weekends to support a 24/7 workforce.

Responsibilities

Oversee HR operations and compliance with California employment laws.
Audit biweekly payroll and ensure wage-and-hour compliance, including meal and rest breaks.
Conduct employee investigations and resolve workplace conflicts.
Manage workers’ compensation claims and investigations, and coordinate return to work.
Lead workplace safety programs and injury-prevention initiatives.
Train managers on hiring, onboarding, performance management, and corrective action.
Oversee employee separations, documentation, and final-pay compliance.
Develop employee recognition, engagement, and retention initiatives.
Partner with plant leadership, the CFO, and external HR leadership.
Manage HR records and reporting through ADP Workforce Now.
