About the position
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Human Computer Interaction (HCI) Designer III to lead our design teams and support the Department of Veterans Affairs. In this role, you will manage multiple design teams across multiple platforms and projects, collaborating with stakeholders to provide programmatic solutions that enhance the experiences of veterans and health care professionals. Responsibilities
- Manage multiple design teams throughout the design process, collaborating with stakeholders.
- Oversee the delivery of user flows, wireframes, and building user interface mockups and prototypes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide programmatic solutions.
- Advocate for design-centered changes, refinements, and improvements across a portfolio.
- Modify and implement Quality Assurance methodologies and practices.
- Mentor and guide junior HCI designers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, ensuring alignment on design strategy and execution.
Requirements
- PhD or Master's Degree in a relevant field, such as industrial or systems engineering, psychology, computer science, or computer science & engineering
- With PhD: no minimum experience; with Master's: 5+ years of experience in the field of HCI or a related area
- Proven track record of leading and managing design teams in complex projects
- Expertise in design and prototyping tools, such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, or InVision
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Experience working with government or healthcare organizations (preferred)
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and guidelines, such as Section 508 and WCAG (preferred)
- Stewardship of design systems with product & engineering teams (preferred)
- Ability to execute customer research/stakeholder workshops facilitation, concept generation, requirements identification, and transformation design sprints (preferred)
- Familiarity with Agile or Lean methodologies (preferred)
- Experience in managing remote and diverse teams (preferred)
