Braven•Chicago, IL
•$69,000 - $74,100•Hybrid

About The Position

Braven is hiring an HRIS Analyst, Workday, to own and develop its new Workday platform as the organization grows. As a member of the Systems team, this role partners with People & Operations to build and maintain Workday for staff and with IT to make it a trusted source of people data for access, provisioning, and automations. The role owns Workday’s long-term configuration, security, integrations, and reporting, and reports directly to the Head of Workplace Technology & Operations. The analyst administers and optimizes Workday, manages integrations and automation, protects security and data integrity, builds reports, and provides support, training, and documentation. The position is hybrid in Chicago, with in-office work Tuesday through Thursday and remote work Monday and Friday. It requires occasional availability outside standard hours during releases, integration testing, and major configuration changes.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of hands-on Workday HCM administration, including business process configuration, security administration, and report building.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.; Braven does not offer employment visa sponsorship.
  • Able to work in person in Chicago 3 days per week and live within commuting distance of the Chicago hub.
  • Able to provide occasional availability outside standard hours during Workday releases, integration testing, and major configuration changes.
  • Access to the internet.

Nice To Haves

  • Supported a Workday implementation or a major implementation phase through go-live and hypercare.
  • Workday Pro certification in HCM, Security, Integrations, or Reporting.
  • Experience building and supporting Workday integrations, including EIBs and Core Connectors; Studio or Workday APIs are a plus. Experience with identity lifecycle provisioning using Okta or a similar tool is preferred.
  • Advanced Workday reporting experience, including matrix and composite reports, calculated fields, and dashboards.
  • Experience as the sole or primary Workday administrator at a small or mid-sized organization, ideally a nonprofit, balancing hands-on configuration with stakeholder support.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to stakeholders with different technical backgrounds and translate People & Operations needs into practical system solutions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to building strong, welcoming cultures that help develop others.
  • Exemplification of Braven’s core values.
  • Experience that has informed a belief in Braven’s mission and prepared the candidate to work with, or for, Braven’s student Fellow population.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Braven’s primary Workday administrator, maintaining business process configuration, supervisory organizations, condition rules, notifications, and tenant and sandbox environments.
  • Triage defects, close configuration gaps, and partner with People & Operations to prioritize and deliver an enhancement roadmap.
  • Manage Workday’s twice-yearly feature releases, including impact assessment, regression testing, and rollout.
  • Manage enhancement-request intake, translate business needs into scalable configuration, and assess downstream impacts before changes go live.
  • Build, monitor, and troubleshoot integrations using EIBs and Core Connectors, maintaining Workday as the source of truth for people data across Braven’s systems.
  • Own joiner, mover, and leaver provisioning from Workday into Okta, partnering with IT to ensure access is granted and removed accurately and on time.
  • Evaluate and redesign automations as Workday and connected systems evolve, and identify manual processes that can be automated.
  • Coordinate with Workday, implementation partners, and other vendors to resolve integration issues and evaluate functionality.
  • Administer role-based and user-based security groups, domain and business process security policies, and integration system user accounts, following least privilege and segregation of duties.
  • Conduct access reviews and data audits, and manage mass data loads through EIBs with quality checks.
  • Build reports, calculated fields, and dashboards that provide People & Operations, IT, and leadership with accurate, timely people data.
  • Maintain report governance, including naming conventions, a report inventory, and retirement of unused reports.
  • Provide tier 2 support for Workday issues submitted through Jira Service Management or raised directly in Workday.
  • Train staff and managers on Workday self-service and new features.
  • Develop and maintain Workday configuration, integration, and process documentation in Confluence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Discretionary time off, in addition to organization-wide holidays and two week-long shutdowns in July and December; the minimum is 20 days per year.
  • $25,000 in lifetime Carrot benefits for fertility, family-building, and hormonal health.
  • 401(k) contribution match up to 5% of base annual salary, starting the first full month.
  • Coverage of 85% of health insurance premiums for the employee and dependents.
  • 12 weeks of paid parental leave.
  • A one-month paid sabbatical after 4 years on staff.
  • Monthly $75 reimbursement for cell phone or internet.
  • Access to funding for continued career development.
