About The Position

Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (LEH) is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator to provide support to the operational needs of Human Resources. The HR Coordinator will work directly for the HR Director and work with the Prime Time Head Start leaders. This position is responsible for supporting effective recruitment and hiring of employees, new employee orientation and onboarding, records retention and file maintenance, maintaining employee information, and general HR support for the Head Start program across the program service area (multiple parishes), including but not limited to current sites in Lafayette, Iberia, Natchitoches, Red River, and DeSoto Parishes. This position is based on site in the Acadiana area and requires a Monday–Friday schedule. Occasional travel between program sites within the service area (multiple parishes) is required. In addition, travel to outlying locations such as Natchitoches, Red River, and DeSoto Parishes is expected.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years of experience in Human Resources
  • Excellent customer service experience
  • High proficiency with Microsoft applications
  • Knowledge of HR policies and procedures.
  • Solid organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to advance numerous competing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to coordinate activities across team members at multiple locations.
  • Ability to cultivate partnerships and build consensus.
  • Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
  • Strong computer skills, Microsoft Office.
  • Capacity to adjust actions in relation to others' actions
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues and partners.
  • High degree of integrity and work ethic.
  • Aptitude to engage in positive public interaction.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

  • Gather and review all applications in the HRIS portal.
  • Conduct pre-screen interviews and schedule in-person interviews with hiring managers.
  • Provide support in incident reporting processes, including gathering relevant information and contributing to investigation documentation.
  • Assist with disciplinary procedures as needed, including occasional travel between program sites.
  • Coordinate and conduct new employee orientation and onboarding activities; support HR trainings as needed.
  • Collect all on-boarding paperwork and maintain all personnel records.
  • Follow-up with new hires and staff regarding missing documents or information.
  • Evaluate and audit address changes, status changes, and job title changes in employee records.
  • Maintain HRIS data integrity by entering updates, performing routine audits, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring timely and accurate employee record changes.
  • Prepare and distribute routine HR status updates and reports (e.g., recruiting pipeline, onboarding status, credential expirations, leave status) to the HR Director and program leaders, as requested.
  • Collect, input, and monitor FMLA/leave requests in the HRIS, maintaining accurate records and proactively updating leaders on employee leave status.
  • Collect required information for workers’ compensation claims and submit claim documentation to the organization’s workers’ compensation vendor; track claim status and maintain related records.
  • Maintain and track all expiration dates for: CDA, ancillary, degrees, CPR, physicals, and other certificates.
  • Monitor the criminal background check portal.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employees and organizational information in accordance with policy and applicable law.
  • Provide courteous and prompt service to all internal and external clients.
  • Prioritize and address requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships and to ensure that client confidentiality is assured.
  • Identify opportunities and recommend methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance, e.g. expense management.
  • Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service.
  • Orient new co-workers and actively support teamwork throughout the organization.
  • Perform other duties as required.
