About The Position

Capital Medical Group, a newly acquired physician practice group within Independence Physician Management (IPM), a subsidiary of UHS, is seeking an experienced Temporary Human Resources Generalist to support the Human Resources Department for an assignment of up to 10 weeks. This role provides essential day-to-day HR support to a large, multi-specialty medical practice serving patients across the Washington, DC area and the DMV. As the largest multi-specialty physician practice in the region, we support more than 50 medical and surgical specialties through a network of hospitals and care locations, including GW Hospital, Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center, GW Urgent Care, and affiliated sites throughout the DMV. The Temporary Human Resources Coordinator will play a key role in supporting HR functions and ensuring smooth departmental operations. Working in collaboration with HR team members this position serves as a resource to employees and managers. The ideal candidate will bring strong coordinator experience,and the ability to manage sensitive matters with professionalism and confidentiality. This role requires someone who can balance administrative accuracy with strong employee service, while supporting a wide range of HR needs in a healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related field from an accredited educational institution is required.
  • Candidates must have at least three (3) years of progressively responsible human resources experience and demonstrate a strong working knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint to include email, spreadsheets, database entry.
  • Experience with ATS and HRIS System(s) required.
  • Must possess oral and written communication skills ability to multi-task with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of employment law (federal, state and local).
  • Requires the ability to work independently under general instructions on a wide variety of special projects, completing assignments within deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative environment.
  • Promotes mutual respect and professionalism in working relationships.
  • Strong customer relations/customer complaint resolution skills required.
  • Must maintain high level of confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting employees and managers in a multi-site or complex healthcare environment will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating the pre-employment onboarding process and communicating with new hires, hiring managers or supervisors, Employee Health, and Human Resources to ensure a smooth transition into the organization.
  • Supports staff with concerns, forms, office procedures, and general HR-related inquiries to help maintain daily operational efficiency.
  • Assist employees with benefits questions, including login access to the Employee Self-Service Portal or the UHS Benefits Portal, and will refer employees to the appropriate carrier or Benefits Center when needed.
  • Responsible for employee file maintenance and regulatory compliance.
  • Processes personnel actions such as hires, job changes, corrections, and terminations, while maintaining accuracy and compliance across all employee transactions.
  • Maintains updated licensure and certification tracking throughout the organization. Communicates expiring licenses and certifications to the department directors and ensure staff are not working with expired credentials.
  • Supports I-9 compliance upon hire and throughout the employment cycle by obtaining valid, unexpired identification documents as required.
  • Responds to the needs of internal and external customers by phone and in person, assisting applicants with the online application process, and computer access as needed, and researching, investigating, and responding to employee concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Supports HR Manager with LMS administrator responsibilities; provides other administrative support to the IPM HR team.
