Housekeeper (PT) - The Hotel Hershey
About The Position
The Housekeeper is responsible for cleaning guest rooms at The Hotel Hershey, a luxury resort with 326 guest rooms, including 19 Villas containing 98 luxury sleeping rooms, and 25,000 square feet of meeting and function space. The hotel is a Historic Hotel of America and a AAA Four-Diamond Award winner. This part-time union position maintains guest rooms and public areas to the resort’s quality and cleanliness standards, while providing welcoming service and respecting guest privacy. Work is primarily on first shift but may include other shifts based on operational needs. The schedule is based on union seniority and may require evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must successfully complete and pass the post-offer employment physical exam.
- Friendly guest-service attitude, well-groomed and professional appearance, and self-confidence.
- Self-motivated and able to work alone.
- Ability to clean 14 rooms within a specified period and operate a vacuum cleaner.
- Ability to speak, read, and understand English.
- Visual ability to meet high cleaning standards and determine degree of cleanliness.
- Ability to use a smartphone or tablet to communicate, answer calls, and navigate job-related software.
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet throughout the shift, excluding scheduled rest breaks.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds and perform standing, walking, bending, kneeling, handling, stooping, reaching, lifting, and repetitive motions.
- Must provide proper footwear.
- Must be able to meet scheduled requirements, which may include evening and weekend hours.
Responsibilities
- Maintain high levels of cleanliness and provide exceptional, welcoming customer service to guests.
- Clean assigned guest rooms to brand quality standards within allocated timeframes, including changing linens, making beds, and replenishing towels and bathroom amenities.
- Dust furniture, vacuum carpets, sweep and mop floors, and sanitize high-touch surfaces.
- Handle guests’ personal belongings with care and adhere to guest privacy protocols.
- Replenish linens and supplies; report missing items and damage; and report maintenance deficiencies using job-related software.
- Mark and turn in lost-and-found items.
- Update room status using job-related software.
- Stock, organize, and maintain cleaning carts and floor linen closets.
- Report unsafe conditions.
- Make up cots, pack ‘n plays, and sofa beds as requested.
- Remove room-service items and store them in a designated location.
- Assist with cleaning and maintaining public resort areas, including restrooms, hallways, and lobbies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
