About The Position

The Host joins The Peninsula Chicago’s Food & Beverage team and helps create a memorable guest experience. The role handles restaurant reservations, welcomes and seats guests, and provides farewells according to hotel standards. It also includes pre- and after-service procedures, confirming reservations and large parties two days in advance, managing same-day reservations, taking take-out orders, and handling cash. The Host observes the condition of restaurant and public-area facilities and equipment and recommends corrections or improvements as needed.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of guest service experience.
• Knowledge of OpenTable or another computerized reservation system.
• Some computer experience, including Excel and Word.
• Micros experience.
• Ability to multitask.
• Impeccable grooming and excellent presentation.
• Outgoing, well-spoken, polite, levelheaded, and patient demeanor; ability to smile easily and get along with different personality types.
• Ability to handle high-stress situations.
• Must have work authorization in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Handle restaurant reservations, greet and seat guests, and provide farewells according to hotel standards.
• Perform pre-service and after-service procedures.
• Confirm reservations and large parties two days in advance.
• Handle same-day reservations according to Peninsula standards.
• Understand and accurately follow the standard sequence of service.
• Observe and maintain the daily condition of restaurant and public-area facilities and equipment, and recommend corrections or improvements as needed.
• Take daily take-out orders by phone or in person.
• Handle cash.
