About The Position

The Peninsula Chicago is seeking a Host to join its Food & Beverage team. The role supports the company’s objectives and helps create a memorable guest experience at a luxury hotel with multiple outlets. The Host handles restaurant reservations and guest arrivals and departures, follows the hotel’s service standards, and supports restaurant operations, including take-out orders and cash handling.

The position requires at least two years of guest service experience, familiarity with computerized reservation systems such as OpenTable, and the ability to multitask while maintaining an impeccable presentation. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. The pay rate is $26.68 per hour.

Requirements

• At least two years of guest service experience.
• Knowledge of OpenTable or another computerized reservation system.
• Some computer experience, including Excel and Word.
• Micros experience.
• Ability to multitask.
• Impeccable grooming and excellent presentation.
• Outgoing, well-spoken, polite, levelheaded, and patient demeanor; ability to smile easily and get along with different personality types.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Handle restaurant reservations, greet and seat guests, and bid farewell according to hotel standards.
• Perform pre-service and after-service procedures.
• Confirm reservations and large parties two days in advance.
• Handle same-day reservations according to Peninsula standards.
• Understand and accurately follow the standard sequence of service.
• Observe and maintain the daily condition of restaurant and public-area facilities and equipment, and recommend corrections or improvements as needed.
• Take daily take-out orders by phone or in person.
• Handle cash.
