About The Position

The Host maintains dining-room quality standards through the immediate supervision of service staff. The role includes preparing the dining room for service, greeting and seating guests, supporting staff, addressing guest concerns, and coordinating reservations and special requests. The Host also handles service records and reports, checks, specials, floor diagrams, reservation information, and hotel information, and operates the NCR terminal and dining service equipment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Six months of food and beverage experience.
Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language or languages used in the workplace.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including day and night shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Ensure the dining room is in order before opening.
Conduct pre-meal meetings when the manager is absent.
Supervise assigned opening and closing duties, including side work, vacuuming, setting tables, and cleaning assignments.
Greet and seat guests.
Handle guest complaints and problems and report them to management.
Make log-book entries and complete required reports.
Check with guests and service staff to ensure guest satisfaction.
Assist with staff training and assist dining-room staff when necessary.
Thank guests upon departure and ask about their dining experience.
Accept and plot member reservations and record membership numbers on all reservations.
Expedite special requests within established parameters.
Issue guest checks in accordance with control procedures.
Program specials into the pre-check system and communicate them to the Chef and line personnel.
Maintain floor diagrams, the reservation book, and hotel information.
Initiate supply requisitions with management approval.
Operate the NCR terminal and dining service equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
