HOST/HOSTESS (FULL TIME)
About The Position
Responsible for seating guests in the dining room and handling customer service situations as they arise. The role helps create an enjoyable dining experience and promotes a safe, clean, and neat environment. The host/hostess may assist with food service and bussing, supervise dining-room food-service associates and closing activities, help train new team members, and work with other departments during job duties and special events. The position is full time at the United Polaris Lounge in Newark, New Jersey. Days and hours may vary; further schedule details are provided during the interview. The fixed pay rate is $23.65 per hour.
Requirements
- Previous hosting experience required.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Ability to get along well with others and demonstrate flexibility and patience, with an interest in people.
- Ability to perform essential job functions satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities
- Promptly and warmly greet guests and direct them to tables based on availability or their seating preferences.
- Help create an enjoyable dining experience and promote a safe, clean, and neat environment for guests and associates.
- Maintain sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information shared.
- Supervise dining-room food-service associates to ensure proper customer service, food handling, and sanitation procedures.
- Help train new food-service team members.
- Supervise closing of the assigned dining room and ensure side work and station setup are completed properly.
- Know emergency safety procedures and help evacuate guests in the event of a fire or other emergency.
- Assist with service, including occasional bussing and food service, while maintaining safe food-handling and sanitation standards.
- Operate equipment as requested, which may include fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea or soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines.
- Work with staff from other departments to perform job duties and during special events or functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
