About The Position

The Hospital Services Specialist is responsible for the safe and effective distribution of blood and blood components and all aspects of the distribution process in accordance with AABB and FDA guidelines. The role requires excellent customer service and ensures hospital customers receive ordered products, with transport handled as efficiently and promptly as possible. The specialist works closely with couriers to maintain customer satisfaction and support hospital blood banks served by the blood center.

Available schedules are Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.; Monday–Thursday, 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; Monday–Friday, 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.; Monday–Thursday, 3:00 p.m.–1:30 a.m.; Monday–Friday, 11:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.; Monday–Thursday, 11:00 p.m.–9:30 a.m.; Friday–Sunday, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.; or Friday–Sunday, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license with no major infractions and dependable transportation.
• Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously with patrons, donors, sponsors, and coworkers.
• Ability to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and peers.

Responsibilities

• Ensure orders are filled and delivered in a timely manner.
• Coordinate routes and pickups to ensure timely processing and delivery.
• Perform procedures for shipping and receiving blood components.
• Assist with inventory management and stock rotation of blood and blood components.
• Provide support to hospital blood banks served by the blood center.
• Perform modifications of blood products, such as irradiation, washing, and freezing.
• Work with couriers to establish efficient routes.
• Work with others to fulfill The Blood Connection’s mission.
• Maintain good customer service relationships with coworkers, clients, and the general public.
• Operate company vehicles safely.
• Produce accurate, precise, and legible documentation.
• Perform on-call duties as assigned.
• Perform housekeeping as needed to keep a clean and orderly work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
