About The Position

The Hospital Services Specialist is responsible for the safe and effective distribution of blood and blood components, following AABB and FDA guidelines. The role ensures hospital customers receive ordered blood products and that product transportation is efficient and timely. It requires excellent customer service and close coordination with couriers to maintain customer satisfaction. Available schedules include Monday–Friday or Monday–Thursday shifts across day, evening, and overnight hours, as well as Friday–Sunday day or overnight shifts.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver’s license with no major infractions and dependable transportation.
Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously with patrons, donors, sponsors, and coworkers.
Ability to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and peers.

Responsibilities

Ensure orders are filled and delivered in a timely manner.
Coordinate routes and pickups to support timely processing and delivery.
Perform procedures for shipping and receiving blood components.
Assist with inventory management and stock rotation of blood and blood components.
Provide support to hospital blood banks served by the blood center.
Modify blood products as required, including irradiation, washing, and freezing.
Work closely with couriers to identify efficient routes.
Work with others to fulfill the mission of The Blood Connection.
Maintain good customer service relations with coworkers, clients, and the general public.
Operate company vehicles safely.
Produce accurate, precise, and legible documentation.
Perform on-call duties as assigned.
Perform housekeeping duties as needed to maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.
