About The Position

Responsible for daily cleaning and supplying of all areas according to schedules established by the EVS Department Director. Duties include mopping, vacuuming, cleaning lavatories, showers and furniture, stocking supplies, wall cleaning, dusting, fixture cleaning, and other duties assigned by the Department Director or Supervisor. The housekeeper inspects rooms for cleanliness, furniture arrangement, and maintenance or project needs, and follows proper procedures for stripping, disinfecting, and remaking beds. The role requires strict compliance with safety protocols and procedures, including HCA’s “Patients First” safety initiative. The position is with St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, a 368-bed acute care hospital within St. David’s HealthCare. The hospital offers specialty and sub-specialty services, including oncology, trauma, cardiac, stroke, orthopedic, maternity, and newborn care.

Requirements

Preferred formal education: 10th grade.

Responsibilities

Empty, disinfect, and re-line wastebaskets and ashtrays.
Dust horizontal surfaces at high and low levels.
Damp-wipe and spot-clean furniture, shelving, light fixtures, walls, countertops, windows, appliances, vents, and pictures.
Clean and polish bathrooms and lavatories, including disinfecting toilets, sinks, and bathtubs.
Clean and polish fixtures, mirrors, and cabinets; replenish soap, paper towels, and toilet paper as needed.
Damp-mop and vacuum floors and spot-clean carpets as needed.
Inspect rooms for cleanliness, proper furniture arrangement, and work that may require attention from the Housekeeping or Maintenance Department.
Inspect drapes and cubicles for rips, tears, or excessive soilage and report issues as needed.
Strip, disinfect, and remake beds according to proper procedures.
Follow safety protocols and procedures, including HCA’s “Patients First” safety initiative.
Perform other related duties as directed or required.
