About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care for pets in New Haven and the surrounding Connecticut metropolitan area. Care is delivered in pets’ homes, where veterinarians support families through end-of-life decisions and help pets experience a peaceful goodbye. The role offers a slower-paced practice with a few appointments per day and time to listen, explain options, and honor each pet’s story. Veterinarians practice independently while working with a supportive team. The company provides onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, training, and access to experienced colleagues. Scheduling options range from two days per week to full time, with self-managed scheduling available. Weekend days are selected by the veterinarian: four weekend days per month. Compensation is guaranteed and varies with schedule, with quarterly bonus opportunities. Heartstrings does not require a non-compete agreement.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM, VMD, or BVMS).
Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.

Responsibilities
