About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families in Memorial, Bellaire, West University, the Heights, Texas, and the surrounding metropolitan area. Care is delivered in pets’ homes, with time for listening, answering questions, and helping families say goodbye with dignity and peace. The veterinarian practices independently while traveling to appointments, with onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and experienced colleagues available for support. Schedules are available for two to five days per week, including full-time and part-time options. Veterinarians can choose a self-managed schedule; compensation is prorated for the selected schedule and ranges from $65,000 to $155,000. Full-time schedules include guaranteed salary and quarterly bonus opportunities. The position has no non-compete agreement. Veterinarians choose four weekend days per month rather than following a fixed weekend rotation.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent (DVM, VMD, or BVMS).
Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.

Responsibilities

Provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets in their homes.
Support families through end-of-life decisions and goodbyes with compassion, dignity, and respect.
Answer families’ questions and explain care options.
Travel independently to appointments in the designated service area.
