About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice provides gentle hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families in the comfort of their homes. This role offers a unique opportunity to practice veterinary medicine at a slower pace, focusing on compassionate end-of-life care without the pressure of a traditional clinic. The veterinarian will work independently on the road but will be supported by a dedicated team. The position emphasizes providing meaningful care, listening to families, and helping them say goodbye with dignity. The company is family-owned and not backed by private equity, focusing on the well-being of its team members.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD/BVMS)
Valid U.S. Driver's License
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 90 lbs with assistance
Willingness to complete license verification, background check, and driving record review.

Nice To Haves

Experience in hospice or palliative care for animals.
Strong communication and empathy skills.
Ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

Provide compassionate hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets.
Spend ample time with each patient and family, listening and explaining care options.
Assist families in saying goodbye to their pets with dignity and peace.
Practice independently on the road while having team support available.
Manage a schedule with a limited number of appointments per day.
