About The Position
Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care for pets and their families in Providence, Warwick, Cranston, Cumberland, Pawtucket, Tiverton, and surrounding Rhode Island areas. Care is provided in pets’ homes, where veterinarians help families navigate end-of-life decisions and say goodbye with dignity and peace. The role offers a slower-paced, mobile practice with a few appointments per day and no double-booking. Veterinarians work independently in the field and receive onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and support from experienced colleagues. Schedules are available for two to five days per week, including self-managed part-time options. Full-time compensation ranges from $60,000 to $135,000 depending on schedule. Examples include a five-day full-time schedule with a $110,000 base salary and a four-day full-time schedule starting at $135,000; eligible schedules also include quarterly bonus opportunities.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or BVMS).
- Valid U.S. driver's license.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
- Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.
Responsibilities
- Provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets in their homes.
- Help families understand end-of-life decisions and support them through saying goodbye to their pets.
- Practice mobile veterinary medicine independently while coordinating with the hospice team for support as needed.
